Livescan fingerprinting is a method of capturing digital fingerprints using a scanner rather than ink and paper. The scanner captures a high-resolution image of the fingerprints and converts them into a digital format that can be stored and transmitted electronically.
Livescan fingerprinting is often used by government agencies, such as the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), for background checks and identity verification. It is also used by law enforcement agencies for criminal investigations and by employers for pre-employment background checks.
